Day of Caring 2022 Matches Over 1,007 Volunteers with Area Improvement Projects

Volunteers from Businesses and Volunteer Groups Tackle Projects Wednesday, September 21, 2022
CHARLESTON, WV:  Change Happens HERE! is the theme as we celebrate our seventeenth year pairing volunteers of all ages with area service projects.  On Wednesday, over 1,007 individuals representing over 72 businesses and organizations will work in six counties to improve the lives of those who need it most. Sixty-five onsite projects will be conquered by dynamic members of the community. Participants have collected nonperishable food items for our senior food boxes leading up to this year’s Day of Caring.  President Margaret Ann O’Neal says, “We UNITE communities to better serve the needs of their people. We UNITE people to do more and be more for their communities. We UNITE for the common good as we fight for every person in every community. By participating in Day of Caring, volunteers not only exercise their team building skills, but also support a non-profit that upholds such principles.” United Way Day of Caring is the largest one‑day volunteer event in central West Virginia. The event has grown since 2006 when 26 teams worked on 30 projects. That year, just 230 volunteers participated.

An AFTER PARTY, sponsored by AmeriHealth, will be held 3pm-5pm outdoors at United Way of Central WV. Join us and unwind after a big day of volunteer work. You and your team will enjoy picnic food and beverages as our way of saying THANKS!

Sincerest gratitude to our Platinum Sponsor Encova, Gold Sponsor UniCare, and Silver Sponsor Optimum for their continued support.
