Eligibility:
Applicant must be 60 years of age or older, in good health and meet low income guidelines. Willing to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours a week with special needs children.
Fees:
None. Participants receive a tax exempt stipend of $2.65 for each volunteer hour.

The Foster Grandparent Program provides supportive services to children and youth with exceptional needs through the services of senior volunteers. Foster Grandparents help children who have been abused or neglected, mentor troubled teenagers and young mothers and care for premature infants or children with physical disabilities. Volunteers must be at least 60 years of age, meet certain income eligibility requirements, love children and be willing to serve 20 hours a week. A small, tax-free stipend is earned to help cover the cost of serving.
